Caleb is afraid of losing his teeth. According to Caleb, it is not the pain of
losing the tooth that concerns him. I
think he just feels very sentimental towards them; it makes him sad to lose
them.
This leads us to our current problem: the dead front tooth
hanging in Caleb’s mouth. It is now
brown and crooked and I am very tired of waiting for it to fall out on its own.
Caleb, because of reasons previously listed, refuses to let us even wiggle
it.
A mother in my situation starts to plot things.
So I ask you…Which do you think would be more traumatic to a
child: 1) waking up in the middle of the night to his mom yanking his tooth
out, 2) having your mother ‘accidentally’ hit you in the mouth, or 3) being
placed in a headlock by your mother and having your precious tooth yanked out
by force.
Despite the nasty tooth hanging in front of his mouth, Caleb
still continues to entertain us. The
other day he spilled his milk. He
growled and went to the sink to fetch a wash cloth. As he cleaned up his mess he muttered, “This
is the worst day ever! This bad luck is all
because I didn’t wear green on St. Patrick’s Day.” Then he raised his fist in the air and yelled
to the heavens, “Curse you Saint Patrick!”
We all laughed and he put on his fake frown that he uses when he is
trying to stay mad.
